2017 Dementia Friends – a Small Step

Dementia Friends Session

Following the great success of the galadance.co.uk in November 2016. J & J Systems are taking action to combat Dementia as we promised to on the night, including asking our staff & business friends if they would like to become Dementia Friends.

The Dementia Friends initiative is championed by the Alzheimer’s Society. Aiming to bring a little more understanding and general information to a wider audience regarding Dementia in society and the small ways which individuals can help, or make a difference.

This programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. Transforming the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding. Which means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.

J & J Systems will run two Dementia Friends Information Sessions on Thursday 19th January 2017.  We would like to invite you to register for one of the sessions. Joining us for a small buffet lunch either right after, or right before the session you choose.

Dementia Friends Session

There will be six guest seats available on each session. These seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please do let us know as soon as possible if you would like to come along. I appreciate that it means taking time from your schedule, but I thought you might like to come and see the office & meet the whole team, if time would allow.

  •  Session 1.            11:00-12:00
  •  Buffet Lunch      13:00-14: 00
  •  Session 2.            14:00-15:00

Each session will be run by Denise Wilton, a passionate lady with a goal of reaching out to local communities to extend this knowledge. Working in marketing, Denise is a volunteer Dementia Friends Champion giving up her time free of charge. Each Information Session lasts around one hour, learning more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.
