“I don’t know if I need Managed IT Services or IT Support Services – What’s the Difference?”
From our perspective, Managed IT Services encompasses everything we can offer your business, and IT Support Services are ad hoc requests or support for peripherals such as printers or routers.
Whether you think you need IT Services or IT Support, the only core difference for us is whether you are looking for onsite support or remote support for your IT and networks.
Choosing J&J Systems to provide you with Managed IT Services means we not only provide 24/7 support for issues that arise, but we also proactively monitor your systems. We aim to prevent issues before they arise.

“Why should I take the leap of faith and trust J&J Systems?”
Are you paying for IT services that you aren’t using? Or maybe you don’t even fully understand what you are paying for?
If your IT support provider isn’t keeping in touch regularly or keeping you up to speed on maintenance and updates for your business, have you considered how well you will be supported in the event of a system crash, a cyberattack or a disaster such as a flood or storm damage?
You may have taken the ‘better the devil I know’ attitude, and are assuming or hoping that you and your business will be fine.
You may be friends with your IT support company; you’ve known them so long. But does that mean they are fully protecting your business? They might well have become complacent.
Can you afford the downtime or losses if your support is not up to scratch?
- We make the process as painless and straightforward as possible.
- We keep any initial downtime for the setup to a minimum and out of hours where possible.
- We ensure your IT support exactly fits the needs of your business, not what works for us.
- We can be your ‘IT Manager’ without the PAYE and HR issues.
- We cut back on the IT jargon and acronyms and offer you IT support in plain English.
The first step is for us to have a conversation about your business, either on the phone or in person. There is no commitment to proceed; if we can give you advice, we’d be pleased to do so either way. What have you got to lose?
“I’m still not sure”
What are you ‘not sure about’? Not sure you need IT support, not sure you need managed IT support from a professional service provider, or not sure what you’re even doing on our website?
We provide reliable support for a whole range of businesses, with differing numbers of employees. The one thing they all have in common is that they trusted us, took the leap of faith, and have allowed us to prove we know what we’re doing and that they can rely on us.
Here are 7 key reasons to outsource your IT services to J&J Systems…
1. Make only one call to one IT Service Provider and get on with your work, rather than spending hours chasing multiple suppliers:
J&J not only provide hardware and software support we also offer complete IT network support, office applications, accounting software, phone lines, phone calls and broadband services. These, coupled with domain and web hosting services, allow us to cover your entire system needs. You can spend less time chasing suppliers and relaying messages, making only one call to a real person, in the UK, at J&J.
2. Be secure in the knowledge that your Servers and Workstations are monitored hourly for a range of faults and issues, without the need for you to be present:
With our Sentinel System, your Servers and Workstations are monitored day and night, alerting our Support Desk of imminent issues, often from system-generated alerts. If critical IT services stop working or hard drives become congested, we will know as early as possible, giving time to rectify the problem in the best possible manner.
3. Give your staff more time to do their own jobs, more productively, with greater efficiency throughout improved communication systems:
Our expert team of IT support engineers, who travel through Kent and the South East, are able to call in or offer remote IT support from our Support Desk, which is manned throughout the working day. Your staff should be able to work efficiently and not get involved in supporting the network or office-based equipment, allowing them to get on with their own jobs. How many times a day does your office ‘IT bod’ spend time under a desk – and if that’s the MD, think of the hourly rate!
4. Update your software seamlessly overnight without disrupting your staff during their working day:
Often, machines aren’t updated regularly due to Internet download speed or simply because people don’t know how to. Our Sentinel system will be working hard to update all your Servers and Workstations during the night. Keeping them up-to-date on the latest security releases of Operating Systems and Office Applications. Updates will be regular and often, causing less disruption and increasing protection for your business against viruses.
5. Budget for your support costs with a fixed monthly fee, which can decrease if you reduce equipment:
Our Premium Maintenance Contracts (link to premium plus service page) have a simple monthly fixed fee per server, machine and peripheral. The fee covers most work on machines based on Microsoft software. This includes virus damage, machine re-installation and even data recovery (link to data recovery page) from your back-ups. Our Sentinel monitoring and alert software is installed on all machines, giving us hourly updates on your system. You can budget for your support costs and reduce them if you retire equipment, as we will fluctuate the fee to accommodate your business changes.
6. Receive regular, free reviews with you and your key staff to help you keep in touch with new developments:
One of our Directors will visit your business on a regular basis to carry out reviews with you. Ensuring you are receiving the best service and getting what your business needs from the IT support systems you have in place. It’s all about making your network and systems work for your business. If your needs change or your staff do, so will the requirements of your software or hardware.
7. Turn your IT Support from a cost into a strategic advantage with proactive planning and future‑proofed systems:
At J&J Systems, we do more than just fix IT problems. We can work with you as a partner to help you plan ahead, ensuring your IT and technology systems support your business growth. If you have poor or no IT support and are struggling to see how to take your business to the next level, we would suggest that you need a rethink. Managed IT Services are not just an overhead; used in the right way, they can allow you to scale your operation significantly.
Ask yourself these vital questions and then, let’s talk…
- How long do you or your staff currently spend on IT issues? Can you measure this easily?
- Clarify the time spent by asking yourself and your staff how often they support one another with internal IT problems. Rather than working in their own business roles?
- Can you assess if this time spent dealing with internal issues has grown as your business has grown?
- Are the level of IT and computing issues regularly beyond the technical expertise of yourself and your staff?
- Can you identify the types of services you currently use and their associated costs?
- Jot down an idea of your current spending on computing and IT, and also consider any security needs and potential vulnerabilities in your business.
- Do you feel your business suitably manages data, backups, security, email and business continuity?
- Do you know where all your services are held & who to contact in an emergency or to change providers?
- If you moved to a managed IT service and support, would you gain time & knowledge that could enhance your business?
